Dear SBT Trustees
I understand that Shakespeare Birthplace Trust (SBT) can stop 800 houses and a road being built on historic land next to the Grade 1 listed Anne Hathaway’s Cottage in Shakespeare’s Shottery.
The development is high on the agenda of your meeting on 17 November 2012. To sell or not to sell? That is the big question. The other question is whether any of the trustees have any interest to declare.
SBT holds the trump card that can stop this bitterly unpopular proposal. Play the ‘NO SELL’ hand and you will be a global hero – living up to your duties and vision to save Shakespeare’s properties, life and times for all. Sell out to the developers – by selling or leasing your land – and it will all end in tragedy.
I beg the trustees to demonstrate that they are ‘opposed to the development’ and resolutely refuse to sell out Shakespeare’s Shottery to property developers. Please find another way to raise funds.
I trust the Trust to do the right thing.
